The steakhouse will open a dining spot with seating for up to 150 people at 200-204 Deansgate in early summer.
The two-storey restaurant will be housed in a Grade II listed building designed by Charles Heathcote and opened to the public in 1908 as the headquarters of the Royal London Friendly Society.
The restaurant’s interiors were renovated by Macaulay Sinclair Architects with a vision to find and showcase as much of the original building as possible, showcasing all the heritage assets and celebrating the architectural features.
The existing plasterwork and cornices were exposed and combined with the original wooden floors, the original glazed brick walls were exposed, the riveted metal columns were exposed, and the original parquet floors were restored.
Plans for the eating place were in April of last year.
“Opening a restaurant in my city of Manchester is very important to me and it takes time,” says Charlie Carroll, founder of Flat Iron.
“The food and drink scene is very exciting right now and it’s getting better. I can’t wait to be a small component of it. I fell in love with a beautiful historic building in Deansgate in 2018 and 6 years later, regardless. It opened this summer.
“Flat Iron is an unpretentious, high-quality steak that is available to everyone. I’m passionate about delicious meat and I’m proud to bring Flat Iron to the city where I grew up and where many of my friends and circle of friends live familiarly. »
