Argentine Gustavo Alfaro has been appointed coach of Ecuador, announced on Wednesday the Ecuadorian Football Federation.
Alfaro, 58, replaces Dutchman Jordi Cruyff, who took office in January but resigned in July leading the team in an official match.
Alfaro has a long résumé that includes time in many major Argentine clubs, and his last task ended at the end of last year at Boca Juniors.
Its first competitive matches will be positioned in October, when Ecuador will begin its crusade to triumph in the 2022 World Cup final.
The South American team reached the highest expression in Brazil in 2014.
