SEVILLE – Real Madrid scored a disjointed 1-0 victory in Seville on Saturday thanks to a purpose opposite to goalkeeper Bono’s aspect of winning a three-game winless streak in La Liga and easing the tension on coach Zinedine Zidane.
The purpose came in the 56th minute when Bono attempted to claim a low center of Ferland Mendy towards Vinicius Jr. but absolutely missed the ball, which bounced off his leg and sank into the net.
Sevilla dominated the rest of the match and almost tied with a loose shot from Nemanja Gudelj who hit the side net, a Suso curling shot that gradually missed the most sensitive corner and an acrobatic effort by Lucas Ocampos that Thibaut Courtois avoided.
Madrid won desperately after defeats to Alavés in La Liga and Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League and the victory lifted them to 3rd place in the standings with 20 points, leaving Sevilla 5th out of 16. (Report via Richard Martin, edited via Ed Osmond)
