Football criticised for “mocking” the Ibrox crisis | football

A Scottish football news site is under fire after mocking the Ibrox crisis with a diabolical post on its social media.

Football Scotland, which has since edited the shocking headline and apologised for it, has taken the terrible step of calling the Rangers’ Ibrox mess over Copland a “disaster”, which, of course, has a dreadful taste and has avoided language given the loss of life. What happened in Ibrox in the afterlife as a result of tragic accidents, described as “catastrophes”.

The original post read “An Ibrox disaster,” before being replaced shortly after with “not a smart preview before the new season. “

Then the apologies added:

‘Football Scotland acknowledges a post that was made on our Facebook page tonight. We apologise for the terribly poor choice of words that were used’.

From what we understand, the reaction to the original post was outrage from all sections of Scottish football, regardless of which team they supported, before the site replaced the wording and then apologised afterwards.

Some enthusiasts weren’t satisfied with the apology, and we’re not sure we disagree.

Anyone who has posted this message, as someone who is applying for Football Scotland and within Scottish football, actually knows all too well the connotations of that word around Rangers, and it was a very, very bad time when even their paymasters distanced themselves. I did not need to cite the explanation of why I apologized.

Did anyone make fun of the Ibrox disaster? Was it deliberate?

You would have to be very insular with respect to the Scottish football teams and the country’s media do not know it and it would have been an irreproachable mistake.

The only thing we can say is that we hope it was just that and nothing more.
