SAO PAULO – Brazil’s defending champion Flamengo returned on Sunday to the victory route with a crushing 5–1 victory over Corinthians that led them to the most sensible part of the championship.
Rio tied with the humble Bragantino mid-week, but Everton Ribeiro gave them a 1-0 lead in part time before Vitinho and Natan attacked early in the part of the moment to put them 3-0.
Gil recovered the Corinthians goal in the 64th minute, but Bruno Henrique in the 71st and Diego with 4 minutes remaining sealed a very good victory.
Flamengo complex 3 issues ahead of Atlético Mineiro and Internacional, either of which have matches in progress.
The Corinthians, who have won two of their last 11 games, are ranked 14th in the 20-team table (report through Andrew Downie in London edited through Tothrough Davis).
