AMSTERDAM – Dutch coach Frank de Boer and key striker Memphis Depay have insisted that there is no precaution on the Dutch team’s lack of goals in Sunday’s key League of Nations match against Bosnia in Amsterdam.
Holland has scored 3 goals in six foreign games this year, but Depay said the goals will return for sure.
“They’ll be back, I have full confidence,” he said at a press conference on Saturday.
Depay has a loose role on the left side of the attack, betting alongside central striker Luuk de Jong in the middle as the Dutch watch to keep their hopes in their League A match. Group 1.
They are on five tracks with two games to play, two Poland themes and one Italy.
Depay, 26, will resume his former association of PSV Eindhoven with De Jong, accompanied by Georginio Wijnaldum. “We had a great time at PSV in combination and we know how to make use of everyone’s qualities,” Depay added.
De Boer, who took over as coach last month, said he was confident about the quality of his strikers: “They know how to score, so that doesn’t worry me. “
The Dutch scored this year against Poland at the start of the League of Nations in September and in their last two matches, against Italy at home last month and on Wednesday in a 1–1 draw against Spain in a friendly in Amsterdam.
