Football-Real Madrid beat Betis and VAR takes centre stage

SEVILLA – Real Madrid beat Real Betis 3-2 in a frantic match for their first win of the La Liga season on Saturday, thanks to a Sergio Ramos penalty that protested furiously through Betis.

The back of Madrid captain Ramos showed nerves of metal to enter the net following a one-handed review of the VAR through betis defender Marc Bartra, who gave the impression that he had been driven by Madrid striker Borja Mayoral.

At the beginning of the middle of the moment, Betis Emerson’s defence showed a red card for a foul on Luka Jovic following a review of the VAR, while Madrid’s matching goal, given as a purpose opposed to its appearance through Emerson, failed after some other VAR intervention that ruled Karim Benzema had been in the structure aspect.

Uruguayan midfielder Federico Valverde gave the champions the lead in the 14th minute with a close-range final after a beautiful score through Benzema, but Betis temporarily scored Aissa Mandi and William Carvalho twice in a row to take the 2–1 lead in the middle.
