The Caps introduced the timing of the REsumption of MLS with a dull noise, being ruled through their Canadian rivals.
It was WYSIWYG, and it was bad fix.
The Vancouver Whitecaps lost 3-0 to Toronto FC on Tuesday night at BMO Field in their first Phase 2 resumption game for Major League Soccer, a game their Eastern rivals largely ruled from start to finish.
It is also the Caps’ first match without the designated player Hwang Inbeom, who sold to Russian club Rubin Kazan last week and whose spot in midfield will not be occupied until October at the earliest. This means that what you see is what you get (also known as WYSIWIG) with the Whitecaps, and if Tuesday’s loss is an indication, the list of that a rebuild … I would probably just want some other reconstruction.
The Reds (3-0-3) had 75% ownership of the ball, completing 870 passes to Vancouver’s 270, beating the West 24-4 and spending most of the game for the Whitecaps.
Here’s the ultimate pass card for both teams. There’s no need for any explanation, really. Look at Vancouver’s two key passes (yellow): one from Andy Rose from the baseline, the other from his DP forward. It’sArray .. Ideal. ? #VWFC #TFC pic.twitter.com/l5kIG6Ja7u
Caps coach Marc Dos Santos will have to make a hasty replacement when his team joins TFC on Friday (5pm, TV: TSN, Radio: TSN 1040), and one of the things he’ll have to face is how to deal with Toronto’s Forwards and STARS of the Toronto DP.
Michael Bradley orchestrated the offensive that set the moment in the number of assists in the history of MLS, newcomer Pablo Piatti, the past Spanish La Liga club RCD Espanyol Barcelona, scored two goals, and midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo, who leads MLS in assists (5) had a magical moment to score the third purpose of the sideman Nick DeLeon.
“We have to prepare the organization because we weren’t ready today. TFC has been bigger than us in each and every facet of the game,” Dos Santos said. “You also want to know why and, you know, analyze yesterday’s trip, I don’t know. But our point of intensity or the number of bullets we lost, the battles we lost, we have to pay homage to TFC that today is much greater than us. So we have a lot of paintings to do in the next 3 days to make sure we’re better on Friday.”
Toronto is now unbeaout in 16 consecutive regular-season games (7-0-9) and is a moment in the Eastern Conference. The Whitecaps (2-4-0) are eighth in the Western Conference, but have played one more game than any other team under them.
The Whitecaps made their line-up for the game, with Cristian Gutierrez starting at the left wing of Ali Adnan and Andy Rose entering the centre-back of Derek Cornelius and Jasser Khmiri. Russell Teibert and Leo Owusu patrolled in midfield in defense 4-4-2.
The lineup had no appearance of possession, and when Toronto took the ball, Bradley pulled the strings and pulled numbers in, crushing the Caps in the middle of the park.
“Listen, boys, it wasn’t good. It wasn’t good,” Dos Santos said. “Some days you may find positives, but others have to be realistic. Because it’s the only way to grow up. I think we gave the ball away too easily. They rarely gave us the ball when they gave it to us. we got it, we tried the last pass, the last piece, we couldn’t build enough, then it’s a component of our game that wants to grow because if we’re not in this game, then we’re going to give more confidence to the opponent, more ball to the opponent and more opportunities to the opponent. Array so this component of the game, I agree with you, you know, we have to do a bigger task when we’re in possession, that’s for sure.”

Toronto’s first goal, which ended with Thomas Hasal’s 240-minute bleaching streak, came from 25 yards when Piatti took on the merits of a comfortable midfielder to score beyond the caps’ young goalkeeper in the 27th minute of the game. They extended his lead 10 minutes after the start of the moment, when Jonathan Osario discovered Piatti in the middle of the side area, and the Argentine winger spun and shot the corner.
Pozuelo’s rear heel at DeLeon for the third purpose in the 83rd minute ended with all hope for the Whitecaps.
Lukas MacNaughton’s header in the 920th minute gave Pacific FC a goal at the Island Games on Tuesday night.
The Tridents, who tied in the Canadian Premier League return to the action tournament in Charlottetown, P.E.I., drew 1–1 when MacNaughton’s header eluded York’s Nathan Ingham.
Pacific and York9 are tied in the standings, while Cavalry FC and Forge FC lead with a win after the first six days of play. Pacific plays again on Saturday when they face Forge at 1 p.m. PT (CBC).
The Canadian Premier League is identified worldwide, and now two Canadian players are also identified.
Diana Matheson and Marcel de Jong announced as the two new members of fiFPRO’s World Players Council this week.
De Jong plays for CPL Pacific FC, is president of the new Canadian Professional Footballers Association and has matches with Canada.
Matheson, who plays for the NEW Utah Royals of the NWSL, fired 206 times in red and white for Canada, two bronze medals.
The PFACan team was not greeted with joy through the league, and De Jong said it was a “bumpy race” as the organization sought the league’s voluntary popularity.
“Everyone has their own opinion on trade unions and I respect that. But we’re there for the players and we need the league, Canada, and make it more attractive to known players coming to Canada,” de Jong told FIFPro’s website.
“We haven’t arrived yet, but at some point we’ll see in our eyes, combo pictures and walk through the same door.”
Matheson has long defended the rights of female players, helped discover the Canadian Women’s National Football Players Association in 2016 and is still struggling to attract the media attention of the men’s teams.
“The silence of the media is deafening,” he said, referring to NWSL Challenge Cup policy.
“Until women can watch women play, women will be able to see women training and women will be able to watch women lead, women’s football will have less effect and will be slower to develop.”
