TEMPE, AZ – A pitiful loss to former ASU football coach Todd Graham, a few blocks from many of his sun devil hits. Someone stole 17 of his football championship rings from a friend’s car in Tempe.
Graham calls it heartbreaking: “It’s a great component of who you are. I know it’s just metal, but it’s a lot and it’s irreplaceable. “
The defeat includes four Territorial Cup rings, convention championships, bowl matches and a ring from his own playing days when the First All-American team was called in the 1985–86 season. They’re all engraved with their call on it.
The Grahams recently sold their home in Scottsdale; in an effort to be very caristic, they did not pack the rings with their other non-public belongings, but asked a circle of family friends to take them to Hawaii, where he is training lately. . Graham says his car rings were stolen before he could make the trip.
Police and lenders have been alerted and Graham says he is willing to offer a reward, but he hopes whoever has them will do the right thing.
