West Brom has shown the signing of veteran defender Branislav Ivanovic on a one-year contract.

Chelsea’s formerdefensa has joined the newly promoted team after spending the last three seasons with Russian Zenit St Petersburg.

Ivanovic, 36, expressed his joy at returning to the Premier League, where he played for Chelsea during the seasons between 2007 and 2017.

“The Premier League is the league of the world,” said Ivanovic, who will use the number 20 for the Hawthorns, to West Brom’s official website.

“I want to challenge myself and I’m in a position for the challenge. I am pleased to play again in the Premier League. I hope to succeed here.

“I have a lot of ambition and I need to do a lot of things. I’ll give it my all for the team. “

Under Slaven Bilic, West Brom was promoted to the Premier League upon completing the league moment last season, 10 issues from champion Leeds United.

His return to the most sensible flight began on rocky ground, as they fell 3-0 to Leicester City on Sunday after Jamie Vardy scored twice on the spot.

Bilic, however, is positive about his team, especially after seating the top international player in Serbian history.

“It’s a wonderful addition to us, a team that has been promoted to the Premier League. He meets all the requirements for us,” Bilic said.

“He has done everything in his career, he has been magnificent. We are excited. He adds quality and delight on and off the field.

“So it’s not just him, it’s him plus the influence he’ll have not only on the defenders, but on the whole team around him. That’s why we’ve pointed it out as one of our main goals.

“It’s a great signature for us. “

Ivanovic enjoyed great luck during his time at Stamford Bridge, winning three Premier League titles, a Champions League, a Europa League, 3 FA Cups, a League Cup and a Community Shield.

At the level, Ivanovic won 105 matches with Serbia and played at the 2010 and 2018 World Cups.
