Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson to stay at Ajax despite Monaco’s interest

Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson will stay at Ajax despite an approach from Monaco.

The Athletic reported on Thursday that Monaco wanted to sign the 34-year-old English midfielder ahead of the winter transfer window closing.

However, following talks between Henderson and Ajax it was decided he is to remain in Amsterdam and help the club fight for trophies.

After leaving Liverpool in 2023 to join Saudi side Al Ettifaq, an unsuccessful stint in the Middle East ended in January 2024 when he joined Ajax.

Since then, he has played with the Dutch team, being named Captain in February 2024.

Henderson was one of the main actors in Ajax this campaign. He accumulated 31 appearances in all competitions, which led Ajax at the time in Eredivisie: 4 issues PSV Eindhoven leaders with an adjustment in his hand.
