Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is expected to quickly return to the top of football with a unique role at his former club Borussia Dortmund. Klopp left Liverpool at the end of last season, saying he was “running out of steam” and needed a break after seven and a half years in charge.
Despite being linked to roles during the summer, Klopp has enjoyed some downtime in Mallorca. However, he has now agreed to oversee the farewell of Borussia Dortmund duo Lukasz Piszczek and Jakub Blaszczykowski in September.
The 57-year-old coach controlled both players during his time at Dortmund from 2008 to 2015. In a video shared via Dortmund on Instagram, Piszczek and Blaszczykowski talk about their plans for the match.
Klopp, dressed in black and a white T-shirt, joins the video call and expresses his amazement at his preference for exercising before the game.
The two men laughed warmly before asking which team would take the lead. “I don’t care. I do the same thing as before, I start thinking about it five minutes in advance,” he joked, reports the Mirror.
“Is the game sold out? Anyway, I will buy a price ticket if I don’t come!”
An exhibition attack gives Klopp the chance to make a nostalgic stop at his old haunt, where he can reconnect with his old duties without the same old pressures. “How can I say this? I’m running out of energy,” Klopp said in January when there is talk of his imaginable departure as Liverpool manager.
“I don’t have any disorder now, obviously, I already knew for a long time that I would have to announce it at some point, but now I’m completely fine. I know I can’t paint the pictures over and over and over and over again. “
Amid summer rumours suggesting a possible role as England coach, Klopp clarified at the end of July: “At the moment there is nothing in terms of jobs. No club, no country. Some other people must not have heard of this component. It would be the biggest loss of prestige in the history of football if you said: “Now I’m going to make an exception for you”.
“I’m going to work a little. I’m too young to do padel alone and my grandchildren. Will I train again? Actually, I would rule it out for now. Let’s see what it will be like in a few months. Nothing is right now. “
