Former Liverpool man criticises Mo Salah’s ‘irritable behaviour’ in dispute with Jurgen Klopp

Former Liverpool star Michael Owen has criticised Mohamed Salah’s feud with Jurgen Klopp.

The war of words ensued in the Merseysiders’ 2-2 draw against West Ham United at the end of April. Salah and Klopp had a heated exchange just before the former Chelsea striker left the bench.

After the game, Salah threatened menacingly: “There will be a fire if I speak” as he walked through the combined area of the London stadium. Klopp was quick to pour cold water on the incident, making it clear that the matter had been examined. Then in the locker room.

But ahead of the former Borussia Dortmund manager’s penultimate clash as Liverpool manager, Owen has refocused on the incident in east London.

Speaking on behalf of the Gambling Zone, the former England ace said: “Salah’s discussion with Klopp is not ideal. I can sense his frustration if it’s due to a lack of time to play, he’s not used to being on the bench, he probably needs to. “Win the Golden Boot.

“He’s simply a competitor who needs to win all the time,” reports the Liverpool Echo. Owen added: “The point would be to keep your head down.

“People all over the world point out how much money is made, but they also say that players are also human and have feelings. I appreciate that he’s a real winner and that he always needs to be on the pitch to score goals.

“I like all of that. I just think the right thing to do would be to put your head down, do the best you can, get back on the ground, knock on the coach’s door and then, if you have something to say, tell him your face.

“I don’t like this act of irritability in front of everybody’s cameras. Maybe I did it differently. “

When asked about the incident in his post-match press conference, Klopp obviously replied: “We talked about it in the dressing room, but for me it’s already done. That’s all. That’s it. “
