In a move that had long been speculated, Sergio Pérez proved that he would be leaving Racing Point after the 2020 Formula 1 season.
Racing Point, which is expected to be renamed Aston Martin from next year, signed a three-year contract extension with Perez in August 2019, but the agreement contained an exit clause that allows the contract to end before the initial termination date.

It has long been assumed that four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel, who is in the middle of his sixth and final season with Ferrari, would update Perez at Aston Martin throughout the Lance Stroll next year.
