MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — The West Virginia High School Activities Commission won 4 bids to host the state championships in the upcoming 2024-2026 cycle. Bluefield, Charleston, a joint bid from Morgantown and Huntington and Wheeling have officially submitted bids for the WVSSAC to host the 4 championship games.
WVSSAC Executive Director David Price says the four bids are the most ever received in any bid process for the football title games. Formal proposals needed to be sent to the WVSSAC by January 12.
Representatives from the host location will make formal in-person presentations to the WVSSAC Board of Directors this week. Following those meetings, WVSSAC officials will conduct site visits. A final resolution on the host city is expected in the last week of January.
A fourth elegance is added to football, with the 2024 season. A minimum seating capacity of 10,000 is required to accommodate.

The WVSSAC is also calling for bids to host the state cheerleading and volleyball championships. Huntington’s Cam Henderson Center recently hosted the Joy Championships, and the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center has hosted state volleyball for about two decades.
