According to reports, 4 Liverpool stars have been “offered” to Spanish giants FC Barcelona “through their agents” and could leave this summer.
A summer renewal at Liverpool is possible after Jurgen Klopp’s departure, as some of their players are linked with moves elsewhere.
It has been reported that Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold could leave at some point in the next two moving windows, with their existing contracts set to expire in 2025.
There is already an agreement for current Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot to succeed Klopp this summer and he will tackle it as the task of replacing the Liverpool icon will be tricky for almost every manager in the world.
Slot’s task will be even more complicated if one or two of Liverpool’s most prominent players leave this summer and, according to Spanish outlet Nacional, four Reds players “are going crazy to come to Barcelona”.
Barcelona director Deco will be “in negotiations with several Liverpool players” who have been “offered” to the Spanish giants “through their agents”.
The report states that “several deserve to pack their bags” and leave this summer and the players in question are Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Kostas Tsimikas and Fabio Carvalho.
Diaz is reportedly “looking at the option of leaving” and is said to be “appreciated” through Barcelona, but Liverpool’s high valuation is said to make the move difficult.
It is claimed that Nunez is in a scenario as Liverpool “will not settle for a small financial compensation”.
Tsimikas is “not out of the question” as he could “replace” Alejandro Balde, while Carvalho, an “old Barcelona target”, is described as an “interesting reinforcement for the future” despite his “stagnation” at Liverpool.
Liverpool legend Graeme Souness warned Slot and Co. that they had to be successful in signing him if Salah left this for the Saudi Pro League.
“Arne Slot has to be himself and hope to get the Liverpool of the first seven months of the season and not the one that was noticeable in the last two,” Souness said on William Hill’s Three Up Front podcast.
“The first thing to do in a football club is to recruit, there’s no doubt about that. If Mohamed Salah leaves, they will want someone else who scores 25 goals a year, as unfortunately they cannot count on Darwin Nunez.
“As a Liverpool supporter, just looking at the way Salah carries himself and his structural language, his attention hasn’t been there. This raises questions about whether a deal was reached at the start of the season, as happened with Cristiano Ronaldo when he left for Real Madrid. If he leaves, it will be a primary problem.
“Nunez will still be there next season, but they probably won’t sell him. He does all the hard work, he runs selflessly with the ball and closes down, he’s 10/10 in that facet of things, but he’s 4/10. in terms of goals scored. The strikers are the ones who win the games and that’s the difference between Liverpool, a team that can win games without betting well, and a team that can’t win games.
