Four-time Retreat All-Star Hunter Pence

San Francisco Giants outfielder Hunter Pence on Saturday on Twitter retiring from baseball.

“Nothing can prepare you for this component of your career when you have to say: I retire from baseball.

“Always grateful and grateful,” the 37-year-old wrote.

Pence a Forth Worth, a Texas local, was selected through the Milwaukee Brewers in the 40th circular of the 2002 MLB Draft, beginning in 2007 with the Houston Astros.

Pence, a four-time All-Star, hit 244 home runs with 942 RBIs in his 14-year career with the Astros, Philadelphia Phillies, Giants and Texas Rangers and helped the Giants win World Series titles in 2012 and 2014.

He hit Array444 (12 out of 27) with RBIs in the 2014 World Series, which the Giants won in seven games against the Kansas City Royals.

The right fielder suffered injuries in the following years, and played only 389 games between 2015 and 2018.

In 2019, Pence signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers, earning a go-ahead for the All-Star Game with an Array297 batting average, 18 home runs and RBIs.

The Giants re-signed Pence on a one-year, $3 million contract by 2020, nominating him for an assignment on August 23.
