Frank de Boer remains with no wins as Dutch coach after luring Spain to friendly

Frank de Boer awaits his first win as a Dutch coach after a 1–1 draw against Spain at Johan Cruijff Arena on Wednesday.

The 50-year-old replaced Ronald Koeman through the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) in September, but has now played four games without winning after the impasse in Amsterdam, any coach’s worst outing in his history.

It was not an ideal start for De Boer and the Dutch when Nathan Ake of Manchester City was forced to get injured after just six minutes and was replaced by Daley Blind of Ajax.

Alvaro Morata of Juventus played in Sergio Canales of Real Betis, who discovered the back with an ending over AZ debutant Marco Bizot of AZ Alkmaar for his first senior goal for Spain.

Injuries did not end with Ake, as José Luis Gaya of Valencia was next to ask for a replacement with Sergio Reguilon of Tottenham Hotspur replacing him in part-hour.

It remained 1-0 for visitors until halftime and De Boer took the opportunity to announce the adjustments with Stefan de Vrij of Inter Milan, Davy Klaassen of Ajax and Calvin Stengs of AZ among those sent for the forty-five seconds.

Two minutes later, the hosts were at the same point as Donny van de Beek of Manchester United after an AZ Owen Wijndal ball controlled to triumph in the 23-year-old to end his moment abroad after opening his major torsional head against Italy last month.

Memphis Depay of Olympique Lyonnais turned down through Unai Simon of Athletic Club on the Spanish target while the Dutch were looking for a winner and the 26-year-old temporarily gave way to Galatasaray’s Ryan Babel.

Spain made a wave of overdue adjustments with Ferran Torres del City, Dani Olmo of RB Leipzig and Adama Traoré of Wolverhampton Wanderers, all presented when Marco Llorente of Atletico Madrid entered for his debut, the 19th coach of Luis Enrique.

However, there were no additional goals and it ended 1-1 with the Netherlands preparing for UEFA Nations League matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina and Poland without a win with De Boer.

Spain faces Switzerland and Germany, but has a one-point advantage in their organization: they lost to Ukraine last time.
