Frank Lampard says he is “happy” with the Chelsea Champions League draw, but warned his team that they cannot be complacent before the competition.
The Premier League club will face Europa League champions Sevilla, Krasnodar and Rennes debutants in the champions stage.
Lampard admits he is “happy” with the outcome of the tie, but warned his players that they oppose the champions’ striker’s complacency against Sevilla on 20 October.
“I’m pleased with the draw in which we look at what we’re betting against right away,” Lampard told Chelsea’s official website.
“We are well aware that each and every Organization in the Champions League is very tough.
So I know the reaction in large part after the Chelsea draw, but we can’t technify it at all with that mentality.
“These are very complicated matches, all the groups we play, especially when you travel to Europe, you know you’re going to have very competitive matches.
“Seville won the Europa League last year, and the other two are emerging that will bring us a lot of threats and dangers, so let’s see. “
Chelsea have won two of their first four matches of the season in the Premier League and will face Southampton next weekend.
After last weekend’s 4-0 win over Crystal Palace, Lampard said, “There are a lot of reactionary things about us and expectations.
“I think the others remain calm, this is how I have to be, I cannot let them catch me. It is my task not to be reactionary and not to be too disappointed or depressed.
“We have a lot of merit for our fourth position [last season] and we’re not moving on to a hundred instantly. We’re a picture in progress, but I’m in a position for this painting, just like the players. “
