Pulisic made his beyond Liverpool’s conflicting parties to kick tammy Abraham out of Chelsea’s second.
The 21-year-old American then scored a brilliant purpose in the 73rd minute to put the Blues within a contact distance with the Reds.
But Liverpool smothered any hope of return when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored a fifth for the champions.
So why didn’t Pulisic start at Anfield?
In the last league matches, Pulisic played 65 minutes against Sheffield United, 80 minutes against Norwich and now 31 minutes against Liverpool.
He last played 90 minutes against Crystal Palace in Week 34.
Speaking to Chelsea TV after last night’s game, manager Frank Lampard said Chelsea was forced to restrict Pulisic’s playing time due to an uninterrupted quadriceps problem. Lampard said:
The thing about Christian is that he started the last two games (of the league), he’s since the reboot, but he has a small quadriceps injury, like a Grade 1 injury. It’s the one we have to be careful with.
I am (alone) satisfied that I have passed by that moment. He looked intelligent and sharp, and clearly that and purpose. It’s wonderful for us with the next two games.

While the Bleus are expected to face Arsenal in the FA Cup final, they will finish their Premier League season at home against the Wolves on Sunday.
The setting is amazing in the Champions League football race.
If Chelsea win or draw against the Wolves, Frank Lampard will be guaranteed a spot in the Champions League.
But what happens if Chelsea lose to the Wolves?
If that happens, Chelsea will qualify for the Champions League if Manchester United beats Leicester.
