VANCOUVER – Fredy Montero is identified through Major League Soccer for helping the Vancouver Whitecaps combine their first consecutive victories of the season last week.
The 33-year-old Colombian striker has been named “Team of the Week” of the league.
It was a dominant week for Montero, who scored two goals and assisted in Vancouver’s 3–1 win over Montreal on Wednesday before contributing to either goal in the Caps’ 2–1 win over Real Salt Lake on Saturday.
Whitecaps coach Marc Dos Santos won a wink, being named “team coach of the week. “
Vancouver struggled to play again after mls suspended the season in March due to COVID-19. The club lost three games in August, but has now won 3 of its last four outings.
Los Caps (5-7-0) will face Los Angeles FC in California on Wednesday.
