Functionality FAQ: Open programs for Estonia’s digital nomadic visa (‘contentCtrl.commentsTotal’)

On 1 August, the programs for Estonia’s Digital Nomad Visa will open, allowing others to come to Estonia and remain as tourists, while continuing to paint for a foreign employer or as an autonomous person.

The Nomad Digital Visa (DNV) will be presented on August 1 and is aimed at remote workers.

Digital nomadism is a way of life that combines the global world and telework on the Internet. The large spaces of activity of virtual nomadism come with data and communication technologies, finance and marketing.

The e-Residency team in Estonia has developed a consultant that explains everything you want to know. This data was first published on the e-residence blog and can be read here. ERR News has released a modified version.

What is a Digital Nomad Visa?

The DNV provides a transitional basis for living and operating remotely in Estonia for up to a year.

It is intended for others who can make their paintings regardless of their place of paint, telecommunications technologies and who paint either: for an employer registered abroad, for their own business registered abroad or as an autonomous for clients basically abroad.

Staying in Estonia with the DNV entitles you to download Estonian citizenship or permanent residence.

The DNV is not a permit but allows a transitional stay. Popular Estonian government visa rules and procedures apply, in addition to evidence of the eligibility of virtual nomads.

Who can get a virtual cellular visa?

To be eligible, you will need to be eligible to paint independently of your office’s telecommunications technologies; essentially that you’re a “digital nomad.”

In addition, you’ll want to come out of one of the 3 categories:

The other vital eligibility requirement to be known is the income source threshold, which is intended to provide evidence of how you will fulfill your wishes during your stay in Estonia. An applicant must provide evidence of the source of income in the six months prior to the application.

Currently, the income source threshold per month is 3,504 euros (HT).

Are there any eligibility restrictions in my home country or in the sector in which I work?

There are no eligibility restrictions in your home country or the sector in which you work.

What is the difference between e-Residency and Digital Nomad Visa?

The main difference is that the DNV grants holders the right to temporarily re-eler in Estonia, while the e-Residency does not grant any rights.

E-Residency is a secure, government-issued virtual identity that provides access to Estonia’s reliable and transparent business and e-governance environment.

With their unique virtual identity card, e-residents can securely authenticate online, create an Estonian business, virtually signal and encrypt documents and contracts in accordance with the highest European standards, and remotely a wide variety of electronic services.

The DNV is connected to the e-Residency and being an electronic resident is a prerequisite for applying for DNV.

Many e-residents will be required to apply, but will be subject to the same regulations and procedures for running as non-residents.

Is there a limit to the number of DNVs issued?

There is no limit to the number of programs or visas issued.

Due to COVID-19, lately I cannot travel to Estonia due to restrictions. Does the DNV allow me to circumvent these regulations and move to Estonia?

The DNV will not be issued to applicants who, at the time of their application, do not have the opportunity to travel to Estonia.

It is vital to read the latest data in Estonia on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website before applying for ADV.

We are aware that in some countries citizens are not on the loose abroad, except in very limited circumstances. Please also thoroughly consult the regulations of your own country before applying for the DNV.

How do I get DNV?

Applications are open on July 15 at Estonian representations processing visa applications. If you are already legally in Estonia, you can go to a police office and border guard (PPA).

If you meet the eligibility requirements, the next step will be to complete the form of the visa application. The form will be available online from July 15, 2020.

The DNV is subject to popular regulations and procedures for issuing visas to remain in Estonia, adding with respect to the corresponding visa application, having a valid document, paying state fees for a visa application, having sufficient fitness insurance and monetary resources. and have a background check.

The main difference with the DNV from other visas for Estonia is that, in addition to popular visa application procedures, you will want to provide data and documents demonstrating your eligibility as a virtual nomad.

When applying for a DNV, you can apply for a long-term visa for Estonia (visa D) or a short-term visa (C visa), depending on the time of stay provided. Applications can be submitted in English, Estonian or Russian. The state payment for a D visa is one hundred euros and for a C visa of 80 euros.

Once you have completed the application form, print and report it and gather copies of all required supporting documents.

Submit your application as a user at the Estonian Embassy or nearest PPA workplace (check first if you want to schedule an appointment), not your supporting documents!

What other supporting documents can I provide with my application to prove that I am a virtual nomad?

In addition to visa application procedures, you’ll want to provide data and documents that prove your eligibility as a virtual nomad. In other words, you’ll want to supply:

The following are examples of documents that prove the facts referenced in the first two issues above:

How will my application be processed?

This procedure will last at least 15 days.

The relevant administrative authority will examine your application in its entirety and conduct a thorough background check as it would any visa application in Estonia.

NO user is eligible for a DNV, and programs and backgrounds will be thoroughly verified as for any other visa applicant.

Will I be if my application is accepted?

Selected applicants will be notified when they want to switch to a PPA to determine their identity and retrieve their DNV.

Where can I get more help on my application?

If you are applying for a PPA in Estonia, please read the data published on the PPA website.

You can also contact PPA migration advisors by phone: 372 612 3500 (Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. At 3 p.m. Estonia Time) or by email: [email protected] if you have questions about the DNV and your application.

Can a DNV holder paint for an Estonian company or employer?

A foreigner staying in Estonia with a DNV possibly also paints for an Estonian company/employer, however, the main goal of it will have to be the remote paints specified in his application, i.e. he can paint regardless of his location using telecommunications technologies and fall into one of the 3 eligibility categories described above.

For example, an IT specialist who paints for a foreign employer and stays in Estonia with a DNV would possibly make more paints for an Estonian company as an IT specialist.

Do local corporations employing others who remain in Estonia with a DNV have registration needs in Estonia?

Since this is additional work, it is not necessary to register short-term employment and pay the average wage in Estonia. However, the main objective and activity of the finisheder in Estonia will have to remain similar to telework in order to obtain advantages from a company, consumers or employers abroad.

What are the taxes of a DNV holder?

Do you have a DNV holder a fitness insurance or get a pension in Estonia?

A DNV is a transit residence base. A DNV holder temporarily in Estonia must have a fitness insurance policy that promises to pay medical expenses in case of illness or injury while in Estonia.

The pension is collected through the virtual nomad in the country where your social tax is paid, e.g. the country in which they live or work.

Can DNV holders bring with them members of the family circle?

If a user receives a DNV, a spouse, an underage child and/or an adult child who cannot deal independently due to a physical fitness or disability issue, he or she may be issued a visa in the same situations as the DNV holder.
