Gabriel Jesus and Emile Smith Rowe were on target as Arsenal beat Leyton Orient in a friendly behind closed doors

Arsenal claimed victory against Leyton Orient in a closed-door friendly on Saturday, when Gabriel Jesus and Emile Smith Rowe scored in a 2-0 win.

The Gunners begin their pre-season programme in the United States next week, flying in to face Bournemouth, Manchester United and Liverpool, but Mikel Arteta’s side first faced League One’s Leyton Orient at their Sobha Realty centre.

Several first-team stars have done so for Arsenal, with Ben White and Jurrien Timber in defence, Martin Odegaard starting in midfield and Gabriel Jesus lining up alongside Eddie Nketiah.

The forwards combined to score Arsenal’s opener, while Nketiah set Jesus up to finish, before Emile Smith Rowe came on at half-time and received his decision on the minutes a few minutes later, after clever paintings of Jesus.

Smith Rowe’s long career in north London remains uncertain, with Crystal Palace and Fulham among the clubs interested in signing him this summer.

Ayden Heaven, 17, left, while Myles Lewis-Skelly played left-back for the Gunners.

Arteta and his team will now travel to the United States for 3 friendlies and then return to the United Kingdom to face Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon.

Those concerned in the Euros or Copa America are yet to go back for the get started of pre-season, with the likes of Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice enjoying time off after their foreign efforts.
