Gallery: 118 skeletons unearthed in Sillame (‘contentCtrl.commentsTotal’)

More than a hundred uncovered skeletons that are being excavated paintings of structures in Sillame through Ida-Viru County archaeologists.

The first skeletons were discovered Keskt-nav in early June.

Archaeologists running at the site have discovered a cemetery on which historians have no data, as paintings of Soviet-era structures of the past forbade historians from examining bones.

Archaeologist Martin Malve said some of the skeletons were discovered with clothing and hair.

Malve said there is probably a village cemetery in the domain due to the large number of burials found.

He believes that the oldest bones discovered date back to the last 16th century, after the Livonian War, and the recent high of the Great Northern War (1700–1721).
