The Geelong Racing Club hopes that small crowds may still be on their way to their October 21 Cup meeting, following the most recent announcement of the state government’s COVID roadmap.

Prime Minister Daniel Andrews presented a four-step plan on Sunday, with faster protocols in regional spaces like Geelong than in the city of Melbourne.

However, Geelong was warned through the Prime Minister that if his instances increased, he could be undercover with Melbourne, however, RCMP CEO Daniel Salter said the club was still expecting a small crowd for its largest assembly next month, but said he planned it.for the option that will be kept behind closed doors.

“That turns out to be the case, the softness at the end of the tunnel is fading, we are still sure that we may have a small number of other people here on Cup Day.”

“We will continue to paint with the government and do everything we can.

“It’s going to be one of the years when every club doesn’t have crowds on your fictional days is frustrating, but we’re in a much better position than a lot of people.”

“The racing industry has done a wonderful task and it’s wonderful to be able to keep running, but spring and the beginning of summer aren’t very encouraging right now.”

Salter showed that, like all clubs, RCMP revenue had been affected by sponsorship agreements that included corporate hospitality and visitor entertainment on the track, which was less likely this year.

“We’re just running with them, we’ve got three races yet to play on Bet365 Geelong Cup day for anyone who’s interested, I think the policy they’re going to have this year in Racing.com is going to be bigger than ever. There are very smart branding and advertising opportunities.”

The Club also expects last year’s Geelong Cup winner, the UK-trained Prince of Arran, to return to protect their title.

Melbourne Cup double scorer connections showed that he was on track to compete again at the Victoria Spring Carnival, after finishing third overnight at Group 3 Unibet September Stakes Enable.

“We’d like to see the Prince of Arran get back on track and check to protect the crown, that would be great,” Salter said.
