German prosecutors and the tax government raided the offices of the German Football Federation (DFB) on suspicion of tax evasion (more news).

The homes of six existing and former DFB officials were also registered from an investigation into allegations of intentional counterfeiting of reported income.

This relates to the advertising revenue of the German national team’s matches in 2014 and 2015 which are reported to come from asset management, to prosecutors.

The DFB does not pay taxes on the source of income from asset management, but is required to do so on the source of income from any business activity.

Prosecutors say falsehood generated 4. 7 million euros in unpaid taxes.

Nearly 200 officials participated in searches at various locations in Hesse, Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony and Rhineland-Palatinate.

“According to the investigation so far, the defendants are suspected of being aware of the fiscal inaccuracy, but have intentionally selected to give the DFB a primary tax advantage,” lead prosecutor Nadja Niesen said in a statement to German news firm DPA.

The six Americans and their positions in the organization have been made public.
