Germany will face the United States, Australia, Zambia or Morocco at the Olympics

The United States, Australia, Zambia and Morocco will be the rivals of the German women’s team in the organization of the Olympic soccer tournament to be held from July 25 to August 10 in Paris. Either Zambia or Morocco will participate in the tournament after the final qualifying matches in early April.

The team led by coach Horst Hrubesch will play their first match at the organisational level in Group B against Australia in Marseille on 25 July (19:00 CEST). Their next two matches will be played on 28 July (21:00 CEST) in Marseille. against four-time champions USA and on 31 July (19:00 CEST) in Saint-Étienne against the African representatives.

“I’m really very pleased with the draw,” Hrubesch said. With Australia, you know what to expect: they’re definitely betting physically. With the United States, we also know what the challenge is. In fact, having Zambia or Morocco, as a third match fits quite well. The merit is that we have the possibility to play the first two games in Marseille. This way we don’t have to try too hard and we can stay put. It’s a manageable organization for us as well.
