Suarez was optioned to the Giants’ alternate training site Sunday and was added to the taxi squad.
The 27-year-old has had two stints on the active roster over the past week, but he has yet to see major-league action this season. Suarez and Trevor Cahill are potential candidates to fill the rotation spot of Jeff Samardzija (shoulder), who was placed on the injured list Saturday.
