American Giovanni Reyna maintained his first game when he scored Borussia Dortmund’s opening goal on Saturday in their pre-season friendly against Duisburg.
The 17-year-old Reyna needed thirteen minutes to score before Thorgan Hazard doubled Dortmund’s lead two minutes later. Lucien Favre’s team beat Duisburg 5-1.
Reyna has ruled this preseason and Saturday marked the third straight game in which the young phenom opened the scoring for Dortmund. He scored the club’s first preseason goal against Austria’s Rheindorf Altach on August 12 and then scored twice in Dortmund’s 11-2 win over Austria Vienna on Sunday.
Reyna is among Dortmund’s newest potential rising stars as the club also features 20-year-old Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho.
Dortmund will play back-to-back friendlies on Saturday and face Feyenoord after their match in Duisburg.
The Bundesliga is due to start its season on September 18. Dortmund ended the moment against Bayern Munich in last year’s Bundesliga table.
