Girona’s dream run in the Spanish La Liga in the 2023-24 season with a 5-1 win over Sevilla on Sunday.
Sevilla’s Spanish striker Isaac Romero gave the lead with a shot into the back left corner in the 10th minute at the Montilivi Stadium, but Girona’s Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbyk took the stage.
He tied the score 3 minutes later, then scored in the 15th and 19th minutes to complete his hat-trick.
Dovbyk’s compatriot and teammate Viktor Tsygankov added insult to injury for Sevilla by netting his team’s fourth goal in the 56th minute.
Veteran Uruguayan striker Cristhian Stuani scored the hosts’ fifth goal with a right-footed shot into the center of the goal in the 89th minute.

Real Madrid and Barcelona managed to keep their run alive against leaders Girona with last-minute victories on Sunday.
Real Madrid saved three problems thanks to Dani Carvajal’s goal in the 99th minute against Almeria, and the match ended 3-2.
Barcelona came close to settling for a 2-2 draw against Real Betis until the 90th minute.
Joao Felix scored in the 90th minute and Ferran Torres made it 4-2 two minutes later.
Girona leads La Liga with 52 problems, followed by Real Madrid with 51 problems and Barcelona with 44 problems, with one game remaining.
