Lille has shown the signing of former Manchester United midfielder Angel Gomes, who will spend the 2020–21 season on loan at Boavista.
The talented 19-year-old chose to move to another place than to continue his career at United after going through the Premier League club’s academies system.
Gomes made his deyet with the first team in May 2017, but discovered that first-team opportunities were limited; His 3 goals in the 2019–2020 crusade have all been in the Europa League.
While United was willing to sign a new deal with England’s youth international, he let his contract end.
In a midweek Instagram post, Gomes wrote a farewell message thanking the club who had helped him over the years.
“Unfortunately, the time has come to end a bankruptcy that has been my life for 14 years,” he wrote, adding that the time had come to take the “next step” in his career.
