Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke is at the centre of a fierce Serie A tussle with Genoa’s alleged Italian rivals Lecce.
The 23-year-old Swede joined Parkhead for £3m in the summer but has rarely played, helped overcome injury problems, and Hoops manager Brendan Rodgers was pleased to let the former Elfsborg player go. Although the player has not yet been loaned out, according to Corriere dello Sport, there are still considerations about the possibility of reaching an agreement with the Scottish Premiership bosses. Now, Tuttomercato reports that Genoa have entered the race, as they prepare to fill the gap that Radu Dragusin is about to leave as former Celtic boss Ange Postecolgou closes in on a £21m move for the defender.
Dragusin has started all 22 Serie A games for Genoa this season and is a key player for coach Alberto Gilardino, whose side are ranked 12th in the Italian top flight. And he’ll have to fill the void left by Spurs goalkeeper Roguyian Djed Spene. The newcomer, who has just returned to north London after a failed loan spell at Leeds United, could sign up for Genoa on loan for the remainder of the season as part of the deal.
But the report from Italian outlet Lagerbielke draws attention and states: “Lagerbielke is also in Genoa’s sights, with Grifone away from the Swedish centre-back as a call-up for the post-Radu Dragusin, who is getting closer and closer to Tottenham. but they add that a merit for Lecce may simply be the fact that the Hoops goalkeeper has the same representatives as his compatriot Pontus Almqvist.
