Our under-21s received their first point of 2025 on Saturday at noon at Hotspur Way, coming from winning a 1-1 draw opposite Norwich City in Premier League 2.

The Canaries took the lead midway through the first half, when Brandon Forbes headed down the right and cut into the box, before finishing deftly into the back left corner.

Wayne Burnett’s side dominated possession, but a stalwart City defence saw our efforts block the first forty-five minutes.

However just three minutes after the restart, substitute Max McKnight fired in a perfectly-weighted cross, which Tyrese Hall headed home from close range.

The moment part gave a lot of chances on both sides, Hall’s purpose is enough to end a series of five consecutive defeats and keep us in five Everton issues in the last position of the holds.

The first possibilities of the game fell on visitors, the first a domesticated effort in Luca Gunter before an effort through Errol Mundle-Smith stored through the goalkeeper under his right. At the other extreme, an animated deviation from Oliver Irow saw him have a partially blocked effort 12 minutes later, before shooting 3 minutes later, with the two opportunities created through Yusuf Akhamrich in the appearance of the left.

Norwich took the lead for 16 minutes, since Forbes won a race for the right wing and progressed beyond a few men, before cutting and shooting Gunter and towards the left rear corner. Damola Ajayi forced the first salvation of Caleb an A desaen two minutes later, while Akhamrich blocked an effort by Vollett and Rio Kyerematen forced save before half an hour.

Captain Dante Cassanova fired largely, while Leo Black, Kyerematen and Irow had several opportunities blocked in a frustrating demonstration in the first part that allowed us to create no less than thirteen opportunities, but at the other end, Gunter had to make a Great support reject Forbes for a moment for Norwich a moment.

McKnight replaced Will Andiyapan at half-time and his first contribution was an assist, firing a perfectly weighted cross from the right for Hall, who arrived, to head into the left back corner.

After the hour mark, Max Robson could’ve had a penalty when he was brought down just inside the area by Charlie Wilson, but the referee deemed it simulation and awarded Norwich a free-kick instead. Our former defender Theo Adelusi hooked Robson’s flicked header off the line and pandemonium ensued inside the Canaries’ penalty area, the ball pinging off multiple bodies before Cassanova eventually get a touch on it – his effort looked like it had gone in, but crept just wide.

On the other end, Pelé Arganese-McDermott made a big challenge of the game deep in the task of rebuffing the visitors to a delayed winner. He joined the back through James Rowswell with seven minutes left as the defender made his first competitive appearance of the season, having recovered from injury.

Neither team could in the end locate a winner, and the point of not being enough to lift the Premier League 2 standings, however, most importantly, we are still within the success of qualifying for the play-offs.
