London: Harry Maguire withdrew from the England national team for League of Nations matches against Iceland and Denmark after Manchester United captain was sentenced to suspension of the penalty following a match in Greece.
Maguire punished after being convicted of disturbing assault, resisting arrest and repeated attempts at corruption.
The 27-year-old is planning to appeal the verdict, but England coach Gareth Southgate has chosen to take him off campus for September matches, hours after his inclusion on campus.
“Taking into account the events tonight, I can verify that I have withdrawn Harry Maguire from the England team for the games against Iceland and Denmark,” Southgate said on the FA website.
