The press is divided as to whether Manchester United will make an offer by Lille headquarters Gabriel Magalhaes or not.
The 22-year-old was believed to be about to sign for Arsenal when reports began to circulate that United was taking a step.
A report came from leading Italian movement specialist Gianluca Di Marzio, a source that suggested everyone listen.
“The Brazilian has been at Napoli’s attractions for several months, which has asked the player for time, hoping to perceive the margins of Koulibaly’s imaginable sale to Manchester City,” Di Marzio said on his website.
At the moment, Arsenal appears to be ahead of the curve with an offer of 26 million euros plus four bonuses (23.5 million pounds – 3.6 million pounds), the same as that presented through Napoli.
But Manchester United also moved Gabriel which, however, asks for a few days.
“A genuine auction, but with tight deadlines: Gabriel would, in fact, like it within 48 hours. Over the weekend, there would possibly be other developments.
The Telegraph corroborated Di Marzio’s account last night, saying that “Magalhaes is delayed by final decision-making about its long term and expects Manchester United to make an overdue bid to achieve it in a 22.6 million pound deal.”
Sky Sports also intervened, that “Manchester United has had conversations with Gabriel’s representatives following his scheduled departure from Lille.”
Meanwhile, the Times went more in Arsenal leadership than Di Marzio, claiming that the Brazilian had completed a medical examination at the Emirates. They also showed that “Gerard Lopez, the president of Lille, said a resolution [between Arsenal and Napoli] is expected until the weekend.”
But there’s no United.
Similarly, Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell also rejected the data linking Magalhaes to the Red Devils, saying, “I doubt it’s one for United. The reading between the lines is an attempt to dispatch Arsenal and Napoli.”

In fact, as reported here in July, Magalhaes would seem to have very busy agents who have connected him to almost every European club in recent weeks, with Real Madrid, Chelsea, Everton and Juventus also included.
Whitwell is more than likely right and United’s call will be used at the last minute to pressure Arsenal and Napoli to close the deal.
If Arsenal wins the race, the move can have a ripped effect on Napoli’s willingness to sell Kalidou Koulibaly.
Magalhaes was appointed replacement of Koulibaly in San Paolo and Manchester City is considered the favourite to point out the Senegalese international. United has also been informed through several resources.
The fact is that United has been connected to several central goals this summer, but the list seems to be waning. Nathan Aké was already at city and Mohammed Salisu in Southampton. If, unsurprisingly, Koulibaly also travels to City, Ben White goes to Leeds and Magalhaes goes to Arsenal or Napoli, only Dayot Upamecano, Ruben Dias, Tyrone Mings and Joe Rodon will remain United’s declared goals, with Upamecano being the top player player.
