‘He probably wouldn’t stay’: Tottenham agent Dragusin says moving to another club ‘would have been better’

Radu Dragusin’s agent sensationally warned Tottenham Hotspur that he “wouldn’t stay” long if he was “just on the bench”.

The former Genoa centre-back signed for Spurs in the January window this year.

Tottenham were the saviours of the winter transfer window, as most other Premier League clubs were unwilling to do business because they risked breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

Meanwhile, Spurs signed former Chelsea striker Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig and shelled out around £26m to sign Dragusin from Serie A Genoa.

Tottenham fended off Bayern Munich and Napoli to sign Dragusin, who has played lightly in the Premier League in recent months.

The 22-year-old has started twice in the Premier League and has been an unused substitute for five consecutive games.

Dragusin’s agent, Florin Manea, caused a stir in January by keeping football fans informed about the progress of the defender’s saga of plays and opted not to bite his tongue in a new interview.

Manea admitted he sought him out to sign for Serie A giants Napoli and criticised head coach Ange Postecoglou.

“It would have been better for him [to point to Napoli], especially because of the sun, but it’s his choice,” Manea told Radio CRC.

“Now he has to be patient, he has two vital players in front of him in the pecking order and he will also locate the box. “

Criticising Postecoglou’s tactics, he added: “The manager has said many times that he doesn’t need to play with a back three, obviously he knows better, but Tottenham concede a lot of goals. Playing with three gives you more confidence.

“I also think Tottenham concede a lot of goals from set-pieces, so Dragusin would be very good for his strength in the air, he used to score all the headers in Genoa. “

Manea has touched Napoli, stating that he “would have chosen” the Italian team if “Bayern and Tottenham had not been there” and that he “will not sit on the bench”.

“If he doesn’t play, then we’ll have to think of other solutions, but he only arrived in January, so at the moment it’s unlikely,” Manea replied.

“If Bayern and Tottenham hadn’t been there, I would have chosen Napoli. If they presented a loan, especially if Antonio Conte is the manager, then we can compare that.

“I can say that if Postecoglu told Dragusin that he is only seen as an option for other centre-backs, then he wouldn’t just stay on the bench. “
