In 1988, Sailing World magazine created a uniquely designed national race series that had quick good luck thanks to its unique concept of racing on larger production boats, unrivalled post-race social reporting and professional race management. Now called the Helly Hansen Sailing World. Regatta Series, those events are the most popular race weekends in the United States and encompass much more than the largest boats of a single design. By combining popular fleets into one location, fleets now come with boats, multihulls, and competing keelboats. under handicap systems established for buoy and distance races. Sponsors and partners continue to interact and grow the sailing network at social races with videos of races, games, food and cocktails for all ages at the host yacht club, both one and both days after the race.
All occasions of the Helly Hansen Sailing World Regatta Series are supported by leading yacht clubs in renowned sailing locations. At the end of the race, the highest-ranked team is chosen to compete in the overall championship of the season, which is held in the British Virgin Islands in October.
