Jordan Henderson believes Liverpool is ready for the new season as he prepares to defend the Premier League title.
The Reds finished a 30-year wait to be crowned champions, but there is little time to live off it, given the restructured timetable due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Jurgen Klopp’s team spent time in a camp in Austria as a component of their pre-season plans, adding opposing playlies to Salzburg and Stuttgart.
Henderson is still recovering from a knee injury that interrupted his involvement in the last campaign, although the England midfielder was inspired by what he saw of the team on the trip.
They are next in action opposed to Arsenal on Saturday in the Community Shield, which gives Liverpool an early chance of claiming silver as they strive to build on what they have achieved in 2019-20.
“You have to look at the players in the team and also the coach, it’s about looking for more and getting better,” Henderson said in an interview with Liverpool’s official website.
“I think it’s quite herbal for us now. We watched the next game because we take it into consideration the biggest and in 90 minutes we give it our all to win.”
“Pre-season is no different, you know you have to exercise a lot to be in a position for the first game of the season, which for us opposes Arsenal in the Community Shield, a little earlier than the others.”
“We have to be right in this first game and we have some other chance of winning the silver medal. The Premier League also starts quite temporarily after that, so you have to be ready, as you do every season. As I said, at first glance, we are.”
Henderson also revealed that he had not heard much about ending the naming drought, instead focused on a “new beginning” with games that could come temporarily in the first few months.
“To be honest, we didn’t communicate it, ” said Henderson. “It’s more about” Did you enjoy your vacation? “
“We did, we worked hard. New season, new beginning and many other things we have to achieve.
“[I’m] excited to see what we can do this season, another wonderful season for us. I need more.”
