Hoene, nephew of former Bayern president Uli, led the champions’ reserves to the name in 3rd place after an incredible streak that allowed them to gather 43 of the 57 problems imaginable in the Runrunde.
Although his team led Nicolas Feldhahn, 33, Hoene was content to donate blood to teenagers such as the central defense of USMNT U20 Chris Richards and the prodigious New Zealander Sarpreet Singh, a philosophy in line with UEFA Youth League regulars, Hoffenheim.
“We have been in touch with Sebastian Hoene for a long time because we were inspired by his paintings and his vision of football fits perfectly with the philosophy and strategy of the TSG,” explained director Alexander Rosen. “Sebastian has impressively demonstrated his ability to turn young players into hard assets and expand them individually.”
“Working at Hoffenheim is a huge challenge I’m actually looking for,” Hoene said. “The fundamental philosophy of the club is the same as my concept of football: offensive, courageous, flexible and active.”
Hoffenheim broke away from Dutchman Schreuder’s tactics in June, with the club seventh. Die Kraichgauer, however, finished the season in sixth place after a 4-0 win over Borussia Dortmund on the final day to qualify for the UEFA Europa League organisation level next season.
The 38-year-old Hoene is the time when the youngest coach Hoffenheim has appointed after Julian Nagelsmann, who was 28 when he took the reins at preZero Arena.
