How Manchester United successfully beat Brighton at Old Trafford to cause angst for manager Ruben Amorim

Manchester United went 3-1 through Brighton

Amorim lost his seventh game in 15 since he participated, the club lost his fifth in 8 games and Brighton outplayed them for much of the match. Yankuba Minteh scored five minutes before Bruno Fernandes headed in a United shot.

In the second half, Joao Pedro saw a goal ruled out for a foul but Kaoru Mitoma volleyed home on the hour mark and Georginio Rutter tapped in after a horrendous Andre Onana error.

The result leaves United deserted in 13th place, with Amorim calling his “perhaps the worst team in Manchester United’s history” after the game.

I regret to worry about Manchester United fans, but today’s start among their Manchester City rivals and the Ipswich Town ended 6-0 against City.

Phil Foden with two, plus goals from Mateo Kovacic, Jeremy Doku, Erling Haaland, and James McAtee at Portman Road.

Pep Guardiola’s side move above Newcastle into fourth, but remain six points behind Nottingham Forest. Ipswich remain in the bottom three, below Wolves, who travel to Chelsea tomorrow evening.

Thursday, January 2: Rangers (home), Europa League, 8 p. m. United Kingdom, P. M.

Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Fabian Hurzeler says Kaoru Mitoma “has it all” after the left winger’s influential role in the 3-1 win over Manchester United.

Hurzeler said: “When Kaoru stays active and not close to the ball, when he knows how to use his speed to make deep runs at the right time and at the right time, then he’s a wonderful, wonderful player.

“Because he has everything. He is fast, he is good one against one, he can score goals, he can find solutions in narrow spaces with not a lot of time.

“I am happy to work with him. He knows how to listen. I have to congratulate him.

Fabian Hurzeler: Kaoru Mitoma ‘has it all’ after key in Brighton’s win at Manchester United

Continuing to discuss Manchester United’s poor form after the match, manager Ruben Amorim added: “It is hard to explain, we have to acknowledge the moment and not go around the problem.

“Everyone here has a lower performance, regardless of circumstances. It is unacceptable to lose so many games for a club in the Premier League, regardless of Manchester United. It is a difficult time but we have to move on.

“The conflict sides are greater than us in many details. We cannot be consistent. I don’t have my players at this time.

“It is a hard moment. We have to acknowledge we are in a very difficult situation. All the bad records, losing games at home, losing in the Premier League, we are really underperforming.”

Rubén Amorim described his experience at Manchester United as “perhaps the worst story” for the club after suffering another defeat in the Premier League, this time at the hands of Brighton & Hove Albion.

United have now lost four of their last six matches in the league to sit closer to the relegation zone (10 points) than the top four (12). That latter figure stood at only seven when Erik ten Hag was sacked back in October and Amorim knows everything must improve.

“In 10 games in the Premier League we won two, I know that,” Amorim said. “Imagine this for a fan of Manchester United, imagine this for me. You are getting a new coach who is losing more than the last coach. Imagine that. We need to survive this moment. I know that.

“We are the worst team in the history of Manchester United. I know you want headlines, but I say this because we want to acknowledge this and replace this. So there you have it, your title.

Rubén Amorim: “We would possibly be the worst team in the history of Manchester United”

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, addressing the media after the match, said: “Everyone here is underperforming, the circumstances.

“We have to make do with this. It’s disturbing to lose so many games.

“It is a difficult moment but we have to continue. There is no other solution. “

A toothless man from Manchester United.

A door shot (a penalty) against a team that grants is a failed comeback.

Brighton treating Old Trafford like a second home.

Very comfortable.

Three convincing wins from nine rounds in all competitions in reaction to 8 games per win in the Premier League.

Nine scored and one conceded.

Much on the way.

If you mix the accounts to broadcast Manchester United and Tottenham, it would be points with Liverpool.

Although Liverpool has one less game.

Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Brighton have winners at Old Trafford in six weeks.

The Premier League’s intermediate order stayed with United.

You are only sure that they will win here those days if they face descent fighters.

And as Thursday showed, even then it’s a slog.

It turns out there have been more ups than downs.

United remain in 13th place, along with Crystal Palace, seven points behind in the first half.

They have not yet won consecutive leagues this season.

When you look at it like this, the 13th position is where Manchester United belongs.

Pretty rosy for Brighton.

They are just three points off Chelsea in fifth and four off Newcastle in fourth, the final Champions League qualification spot.

Hard to argue…

A(nother) horror show for Manchester United.

Look at those celebrations!

Manchester United have today suffered their sixth home Premier League defeat of the season.

That is the highest total from their opening 12 home matches of a league season since 1893-94 (seven).

Let’s see with the Premier League games.

Manchester City kicks off the match against Ipswich Town at 16:30 GMT, 11:30 ET.

This is the way a team is more likely to be concerned about relegation than the European places.

And in fact, United are 10 points above the relegation zone.

This is the margin like Aston Villa, seventh.
