For those who have lived in Paris for the past few years, the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games can feel more like reaching the finish line than following it, which is exhausting for both organizers and Parisians. Games like to try to perform all the Hercules labors at once, with so many miles of destroyed streets, capricious subway closures, bus detours to unknown regions, and Christ-style monuments.

After spending so much power preparing it, it’s wonderful that the most productive way to celebrate is also the simplest: the aperitif dinner, the French lunch that’s a picnic in the living room and a cocktail. . . and the most productive TV dinner . . “It’s the least stressful meal with a French call that I can think of, and it’s a laugh for everyone,” the host added. Forget Instagram-worthy paintings: you need food that’s easy to get when you marvel at Simone Biles’ moves. You don’t have to set the table, you don’t have to serve, and you don’t have to stay in the kitchen for too long because no one expects anything hot or homemade, even if I prepare some dishes. I can’t help it.
