This year, more and more people are prioritizing spending money over hanging out with friends, and that’s why visiting dream destinations and getting exclusive news is a priority.
A few years ago, I saw a video of other people on vacation that I knew would deserve to be added to my to-do list. This video showed other people staying in a pavilion at Omega Park while charming Canadian gray wolves walked past the floor. -Ceiling-to-ceiling windows.
I knew that my friends and I intended to stop at a wolf shelter on our own, and last winter, we were able to go anyway. That’s what our $1,600 staying at Parc Omega was like.
Before booking a hostel, I checked the availability of the chalets on the Omega Park booking page. I didn’t have express dates in mind, but I knew I was looking for a two-night stay during the winter months.
Finally, in May 2023, a two-night accommodation was opened for February 2024. I eagerly booked a cabin with two of my friends.
The total for a two-night stay, adding taxes and fees, is $2,160 CAD, or about $1,600 USD, which I shared with two friends.
When I booked, I found that wolf cabin prices started at $570 CAD per night. Rates vary based on demand and season.
We can decide between a cabin, a hostel or a cabin. Since we didn’t know if other friends would sign up for us, we chose a hostel that could accommodate up to six people.
The drive from Ottawa to Montebello, Quebec, took about an hour, but we arrived just in time for 4:00 p. m. When we entered the park, we went to the registration booth near the entrance.
A receptionist gave us maps of the lodges and the park, told us we would be staying at the Arctic Lodge and told us how to get to our accommodation.
Our lodge is located near a 13-member wolf pack habitat. During check-in, the staff explained that we would see other wolf behaviors depending on the season.
For example, they said, in spring, in the park you can see domestic wolf dogs coming out of their burrow with their mothers.
Upon arrival, a member gave us an emergency number and reminded us not to feed the wolves. A very high fence also separated the wolves’ habitat from the lodge’s yards and yards, so the animals may not be successful with park visitors.
We also couldn’t open the windows to the wolves’ habitat.
We saw beautiful Canadian gray wolves parked outside our floor-to-ceiling window as we entered the lodge.
We sit on the floor, stick our nose to the window and forget to unpack the car and put the groceries in the fridge.
I felt very fortunate to see the wolves welcome us as new guests. Some of them were even screaming, which gave us all goosebumps.
Finally, my friends and I put a few blankets and pillows on the floor to watch the majestic animals.
The wolves howled well into the night, which seemed magical in the snowfall.
I thought the Arctic Lodge was big enough to comfortably accommodate six people.
The kitchen was equipped with a fridge, stove, microwave, Nespresso machine and plenty of cooking utensils and utensils. There were two sofas and a coffee table in the living room, 4 beds around the hostel and a bathroom on the floor of the flat.
We also enjoy a fireplace with a grill for cooking and seating area.
The next morning we made breakfast and ate while the wolves fought over their own food in front of us.
We continue to practice wolves by sleeping, fighting, howling, playing, and walking around their habitat. I enjoyed observing their behaviors, which I believe are similar to those of wolves in the wild.
Omega Park offers a giant safari park with around 20 animal species, plus moose, caribou, arctic foxes, and bison. As visitors to the lodge, we had free access to the park.
Those who are not staying at Parc Omega hotels can access the safari with a ticket, which costs around 44 CAD.
Using the park map we gained at check-in, we hiked the marked 7 1/2 mile trail, which took about an hour and a half. It was an amazing and lively ride as deer, elk, and cars approached our car, so they may get punched in cars.
The wolf huts at Parc Oméga were, in fact, a unique experience.
I enjoyed how the hostel’s floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows allowed us to be so close to the wolves. I felt like I was living in a fantasy novel.
Although it was expensive for me, I even admitted that this exclusive excursion was excellent value for money, especially since we had access to the park’s trails. I’m glad I crossed wolf huts off my to-do list.
