I used to watch Man Utd games in Dhoni’s room, Billings.

New Delhi: English cricketer Sam Billings recalled his two-year stint with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and how he had forged an appointment with Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for his love for Manchester United of the Premier League.

Billings said rubbing shoulders with some of the most productive Indian and foreign players in the CSK locker room was a wonderful learning curve for him, especially seeing Dhoni up close, about how he tackled the game.

“For me, this experience, be informed of those wonderful players, guys but also local Indian stars. I mean, not a bigger star than MS Dhoni in terms of the role I need to play,” Billings told Cricbuzz in a video uploaded to his website.

“There is no more wonderful user to know than MSD. For me, it’s wonderful to decide on your brain and take advantage of the environment you created there,” he added.

Billings also had forged an appointment with Dhoni about Manchester United. Dhoni’s love for “beautiful play” is widely known and Billings said all United team CSK enthusiasts used to place football fites in Dhoni’s room.

“He’s a big Man United fan, which actually helps, just like me. He invited me, there are some Man United fans. So every time I passed the game, we used to stop by his room and have a look there,” Billings told me.

“It was pretty good to communicate about cricket and be informed of it, and see how it worked in your business, whether in education or in games.”

Billings will not be a component of the 2020 edition of the IPL, which will be played from 19 September to 10 November in the United Arab Emirates, having withdrawn its call for the December 2019 auction for county cricket.
