ROMA (AP) – Playing for the first time at the Champions League organization level in thirteen years, Lazio is eager to return.

The Roman club scored two firsts in the convincing 3–1 win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

European Golden Boot winner Ciro Immobile scored first against his former club, and Dortmund goalkeeper Marwin Hitz scored a goal opposed to his appearance when a shot veered into his head.

Erling Haaland scored one for Dortmund at 71, but Jean-Daniel Akpa-Akpro restored the merit of two Lazio goals five minutes later.

“It was a sensation, after so many years of bringing this club back to the Champions League,” Immobile said. “There was a very special taste. We played very well and are incredibly happy with the performance.

In the other inaugural Group F match, the Brugge Zenit St. Petersburg Club with a Charles De Ketelaere winner’s timeout to win 2-1.

A crowd of 1,000 people allowed entry to the Stadio Olimpico and enthusiasts gave up temporarily when Immobile scored a very good goal after just six minutes.

Taking a joaquin Correa rolling center, Immobile used a touch of the ball beyond hitz in speed and to the farthest corner.

It is the fifth purpose of Immobile’s career in the Champions League: its last four were betting on Dortmund in 2014-15.

Immobile lasted a season in Dortmund.

“I said I got to Dortmund at the wrong time of my career and in replacing team generation,” Immobile said.

Less than 20 minutes after Immobile’s goal, a headbutt to Luis Felipe’s first post bounced off Hitz from a corner.

The attack had been announced as a duel between prolific scorers Immobile and Haaland, and Haaland, 20, also needed a tap to score with a shot that emerged from the roof of the net.

Immobile scored 36 goals in 37 Serie A games last season, while 20-year-old Haaland scored 17 goals in 19 Bundesliga games with Dortmund.

The immobiles hit the defense in a counterattack and withdrew the ball for Akpa-Akpro to top it.
