Kostas Tsimikas joined Jordan Henderson and Joel Matip on Liverpool’s bench against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.
The Greek made his competitive debut for the Reds by beating Lincoln City 7-2 to host a fourth-round clash with the Gunners.
However, it will not be available on Thursday night, or over the weekend at Aston Villa, after not being able to succeed from a thigh bloating.
Assistant coach Pep Lijnders told the club’s official website: “We have Kostas, who after the Lincoln game had a thigh problem.
“He probably wouldn’t be worried on Thursday and neither would Sunday. “
Tsimikas joined Henderson and Matip in the foul, either player is final in a return to first-team training.
Lijnders added: “Jordan, we’ll think again on Friday after this game to see if you can be in a position for Aston Villa.
“Joel is the same thing I said last week, he will be in a position [after] the foreign break and will use his time to prepare for everton’s game. “
That leaves Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as Liverpool’s other injury problem, with the midfielder recently recovering from a preseason knee problem.
“Ox is progressing well. He is going in the right direction and it is vital for him that this first phase goes well. But of course it takes much longer. “
As in Lincoln’s case, Jurgen Klopp is expected to re-announce League Cup adjustments.
Liverpool predicted the lineup: Adrian, Williams, Koumetio, Fabinho, Milner, Grujic, Jones, Shaqiri, Elliott, Minamino, Jota.
