Inside the new adrenaline-pumping experience hidden beneath a Premier League stadium

HIDDEN beneath a Premier League stadium is an exciting new experience that recently opened its doors to adrenaline junkies.

Underneath this hall with a capacity of 62,850 people is the first official Formula 1 karting track in the world.

As expected, Tottenham will host the event.

North London has been known for making the most of its gleaming new stadium since it opened in 2019.

Whether it’s encouraging enthusiasts to enjoy craft beer in the stadium, hosting world title boxing matches, hosting NFL games, or hosting concerts for foreign artists.

The innovation coming to Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium is the F1 Drive – London.

SunSport helped them get their engines going.

The centerpiece of the new experience, under the South Grandstand, is a 500-meter, 17-turn karting challenge.

Everything was as new and shiny as the stadium itself, with plenty of details from the world of Formula 1 that will delight car enthusiasts.

David “Crofty” Croft provides the pre-race briefing (in video format, of course), the cars feature DRS, and the start of the grid includes the well-known “lights out” formula that Drive to Survive enthusiasts will love.

Electric cars have wonderful details. Each has its own LED display on the guide wheel that shows your lap times and those of your competitors.

The demonstration can also be used to activate DRS and ERS (Energy Recovery System), which increase the strength of the kart, ideal for trying to overtake a rival on the track.

The sound is pumped into the individual engines to let you know when DRS needs to be used and if you’ve destroyed your PB, while also emitting realistic F1-like noises to make it look even more authentic.

For all the aspiring Max Verstappen out there, it’s a lot of fun and will most likely be a lot more competitive than the real F1 this season.

Different packages are available for all ages, with the ‘Sprint Session’ (£70) and the ‘Elite Session’ (£85) comprising two 15-minute periods on track. It certainly seemed long.

In addition to karting itself, F1 simulators are available. Immersive UHD screens and fully swivel seats offer a highly original experience on a true Grand Prix circuit.

There’s even a pit prevention challenge for those who need to fully immerse themselves in the world of F1.
