Celtic’s European dreams were seen last night against Lazio in Rome.
But for the young Hoops contingent, it’s a better time in the Italian capital.
Brendan Rodgers’ side lost 2-0 to Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico, with Ciro Immobile scoring a brace for the hosts.
It was a result that continues Celtic’s horror run of Champions League form with it now standing at 15 games without a win in the competition.
The defeat also signalled an end to the Hoops’ hopes of progression in European football beyond Christmas.
It was a bigger triumph for Italy for the young Celts who faced Lazio that day in the UEFA Youth League.
That saw them get their first win of the campaign, picking up a 2-0 win.
And it turns out that one Hoops star in particular has turned heads.
Rocco Vata has been linked with several clubs in recent months.
SunSport in August how Celtic rejected a six-figure bid from Nottingham Forest for the much-loved 18-year-old.
Vata, the son of former Hoops Rudi, has made a few first-team appearances.
But his contract expires at the end of this season and several clubs have been credited with an interest.
Verona, Club Brugge and Roma are among the clubs that were connected in the past, and now Inter Milan can be added to that list.
The Daily Record reports that Inter’s scouts controlled Vata, who played the full 90 minutes at the Stadio Marko Fersini.
Last week, another Serie A team, Frosinone, was credited with an interest in Vata.
Given his contract situation, the young star from the Republic of Ireland could be signed via a club for just £350,000 repayment next summer.
As through SunSport this summer, Celtic are keen to lock Vata to a new contract.
Vata had also attracted interest on loans over the summer, the Hoops were unwilling to let him pass unless he signed a new contract.
