Simone Inzaghi has hinted that he intends to sign for Inter Milan and sign a new contract.
The Nerazzurri coach spoke at the Enzo Bearzot Awards ceremony, as reported by FCInter1908.
Inzaghi currently has a contract with Inter until the end of June 2025.
In theory, that would take the 48-year-old through the end of next season.
However, it is clear that Inter have no intention of staying like this for long.
Reports suggest that the Nerazzurri will soon offer Inzaghi a contract extension.
Moreover, it may not simply be another year on the contract for the former Lazio coach, reports suggest.
Conversely, Inter could offer Inzaghi a new contract until the end of June 2027.
A new long-term deal would aim to send a transparent message to other European clubs that Inzaghi is not going anywhere for the foreseeable future.
Reports have indicated that Manchester United and Chelsea are the Premier League clubs interested in Inzaghi.
Meanwhile, Barcelona, Liverpool and Bayern Munich will appoint new coaches this summer.
Inzaghi remarked that “Inter have given me a lot”.
“I arrived at the club at a difficult time,” the coach continued. “And together, with the club, we’ve made an incredible journey. “
“I’m satisfied here. I have a strong club.
Speaking about his contract extension, Inzaghi said: “We will communicate it at the end of the season. But there won’t be any challenge if we continue on this path together. “
Meanwhile, on the build-up to this week’s derby against AC Milan and the prospect of clinching the Serie A title, Inzaghi said: “We know what’s been going on since July 13. “
“We are close to the line to make our dream come true. “
“A lot of people didn’t expect us as champions at the start of the season. But I have a strong players’ organisation, a wonderful club and incredible fans. “
Meanwhile, Inzaghi spoke about Inter’s elimination from the Champions League round of 16.
“We’ve reached the last 16 in Europe in three seasons,” said the coach.
“This season we would have liked to follow the same path that took us to Istanbul,” he said, referring to last season’s Champions League final.
“But I can thank my players. We would have liked to have reached the quarter-finals. But we’re up against Atletico Madrid.
