Inter Milan could sign the Zenit St. Petersburg defender for asking for less than 20 million euros

Inter Milan could sign Zenit Saint Petersburg defender Robert Renan for less than the 20 million euros that the Russian club is asking for.

This according to the Italian channel Sky Sport Italia, FCInterNews. They report that there is a good chance that the Nerazzurri will simply negotiate a lower payment for the 20-year-old.

Zenit defender Renan is the newest player to be part of Inter’s list of possible signings for the final three.

The Nerazzurri were going to sign Hellas Verona defender Juan Cabal.

However, the Colombian went to Juventus.

Therefore, Inter are once again one in their search for a defensive signing.

The profile they are for, however, remains the same. Inter need to bring in a player who can upgrade Alessandro Bastoni on the left of the back three.

This would allow Carlos Augusto to play exclusively as a full-back, replacing Tajon Buchanan. Last season, the Brazilian also played the last three.

At just twenty years old, Renan would have compatibility with the age profile sought through Inter’s owners, Oaktree Capital.

The Nerazzurri owners would prefer to sign a young player with prospects of expansion and improvement, as well as resale value, than opt for a more experienced player as a short-term option.

Furthermore, the Brazilian left-footer is a player that Inter knows has the right profile to play in their defense.

Renan joined Zenit Saint Petersburg from Corinthians last summer. However, he has recently been on loan at Internacional in his hometown Brazil.

But it is possible that Inter will still look to sign Renan from Zenit, completing the loan at Internacional.

Renan as a release clause in his contract with Zenit. But it is worth 26 million euros; Inter would not have the intention of paying such a large sum for the Brazilian.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Zenit is currently looking for €20 million.

However, Sky reports, Inter are likely to sign the 20-year-old for much less than that.
