DUSSELDORF, Germany (AP) – Lautaro Martínez and Romelu Lukaku scored twice for Inter Milan to end a 10-year wait for a European final on Monday, defeating Shakhtar Donetsk 5-0 in the Semi-finals of the Europa League.
Inter will face five-time champion Sevilla in the final on Friday.
Martinez’s headers in the 19th minute and Danilo D’Ambrosio in ’64 allowed Inter to play his first primary continental trophy since winning the Champions League in 2010 with Jose Mourinho. Martinez and Lukaku added 3 more goals in 10 minutes to secure the result.
Shakhtar goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov cut off a pass to Inter Nicolo midfielder Barella, who sped up the right wing and sent a centre that eluded Lukaku but left his wife Martinez with a simple headbutt at the time of the first goal.
Inter tightened control when D’Ambrosio headed for the post at the moment in a corner of Marcelo Brozovic. It occurred less than two minutes after the most productive possibility of the Shakhtar match, led by the close diversity through Junior Moraes over Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.
Martinez had his moment at 74 with a satin shot from the edge of the area and 4 minutes later Lukaku controlled to score the 4th inter. The Belgian has scored in all Inter Europa League matches this season. Lukaku overcame defenseman Davit Khocholava to score his time and fifth for Inter at 84.
